2025 New York State Fuel Gas Code

The 2025 Fuel Gas Code of New York State establishes minimum standards for the safe design, installation, and maintenance of fuel gas systems and appliances. Based on the 2024 International Fuel Gas Code with NY-specific amendments, it governs natural gas, LP gas, and hydrogen systems, including piping and equipment. Effective December 31, 2025, it applies statewide, excluding utility-owned infrastructure before the point of delivery. For one- and two-family homes, provisions align with the Residential Code. The code supports safety and compliance for builders, engineers, and inspectors, while noting that certain fossil-fuel restrictions for new buildings are included but subject to regulatory limitations.
