About the publisher: The International Code Council (ICC) was established and organized in 1994. Before its organization there had not been a single uniform code for businesses and building owners to follow. Each code was different in respect to region, location, and business type. There were three main separate codes developed by the Building Officials and Code Administrators International, Inc. (BOCA), International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO), and the Southern Building Code Congress International, Inc. (SBCCI). These organizations united together to create one uniform code without regional limitations or restrictions and to be adopted by all types of businesses.
