This Privacy Policy describes how BNi Building News, operated by BNi Publications, Inc. (“BNi,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), collects, uses, discloses, and otherwise processes personal information when you visit or use bnibooks.com, purchase our products, create an account, communicate with us, or otherwise interact with our online store and related services (collectively, the “Services”). Other websites operated by BNi or its affiliates may provide separate privacy notices that apply to those websites.

Personal information we collect

The personal information we collect depends on how you interact with the Services and may include:

• Order and transaction information, such as products viewed or purchased, order history, shipping and fulfillment information, payment status, returns, and customer-service records. Payment-card details are processed by our payment providers and are not retained by BNi in complete form.

The opt-out does not prevent contextual advertising or advertising based on information that is not subject to the applicable opt-out right.

We may take reasonable steps to verify your identity and authority. An authorized agent may submit a request where applicable law permits. You can unsubscribe from commercial emails using the link in each message. We may continue sending transactional or service communications relating to orders, accounts, or our ongoing relationship.

California disclosures

For California residents, the categories described under “Personal information we collect” correspond generally to identifiers; customer records; commercial information; internet or other electronic-network activity; professional or employment-related information; geolocation data at an approximate level; and inferences. We collect and use these categories for the business and commercial purposes described above and disclose them to the categories of recipients described above. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.

California residents may exercise applicable rights to know, access, correct, delete, and opt out of sale or sharing, and may use an authorized agent as permitted by law. Where European data-protection law applies, BNi is the controller of personal information described in this Policy. Retention
